Norman Lorentz

Norman Lorentz, Director. InfoWorld named Norman Lorentz as one of the 25 most influential 2002 CTOs in the world. Mr. Lorentz has over 30 years of experience within the private industry and government, most recently serving as the first CTO of the OMB. He has also recently been serving as acting administrator for e-government and information technology at the OMB. At the OMB, Lorentz spearheaded The White House's mission to overhaul the federal government's information technology infrastructure and processes under a budget of $59.3 billion for 2004. In driving this initiative, he directed the development of the Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA), the first ever business process depiction for the federal government. During his tenure at the OMB, Lorentz was a member of the Chief Information Officers (CIO) Council Executive Committee and the recipient of numerous government and industry awards for his leadership and innovation.

Prior to joining the OMB, Lorentz was SVP/CTO for the IT career solutions provider, Dice, Inc. In this capacity, he directed the overall development of technology strategy and infrastructure, including focus and alignment of resources and planning to ensure successful implementation. Lorentz also spent six years at the U.S. Postal Service, where he held several positions including Chief Quality Officer (CQO), overseeing and implementing customer service programs that set both financial and service records. Prior to leaving the U.S. Postal Service, Lorentz was senior vice president and CTO with oversight of all technology investments. Lorentz also spent 18 years in a variety of technology positions at U.S. West (now Qwest).
